Factory Series

This series of six illustrations explores the Domino Sugar factory in Williamsburg, Brooklyn—at the time under threat of demolition for the luxury housing complex that would eventually consume it. Drawn in Southern California after a summer spent living near the site, the work reflects a tension between two places: the industrial patina of the factory and the dry resilience of desert plants. Illustrated on layered media—including cardboard and pages from a 1950s DIY home improvement manual—the pieces combine observation and memory to capture competing landscapes of change and impermanence.
